Man City have won their last 10 matches in the Premier League and this weekend, they face Jose Mourinho’s Spurs side at the Etihad.

Man City beat Swansea in the 5th Round of the FA Cup in midweek but a number of key first-team players were missing from the matchday squad and there’s a big chance that they might not be available for the City game as well.

Ruben Dias has been a rock-solid figure in defence but the 23-year-old, along with Fernandinho did not play again Swansea and could be a miss on Saturday as well.

Guardiola said after Wednesday win, as quoted by Standard: “Ruben had a fever. He still has some problems with the stomach. That’s why he couldn’t train yesterday.

“Fernandinho had some problems, some niggles in the quads and he was not able to come here to play.”

The absence of Dias will be a major blow for Pep Guardiola since he has been one of the key reasons why Man City have been performing so well in recent months. John Stones was on the bench in midweek but will come back into the side against Spurs.

But if Ruben Dias cannot be fit in time then Aymeric Laporte will get another start in central defence.

Thankfully, all is not doom and gloom for the Man City boss since Rodri is expected to be fit in time for the Spurs game and should start as well.

“I didn’t speak with him [Rodri] but the doctor didn’t tell me anything,” the Man City boss added.

“Hopefully, he will be fit. We will see in the next hours.

“He’s playing really well. His presence, his personality. He is playing really well, like the last few weeks. He has [played well] all season, I would say.”

Man City are sitting at the top of the league table with 50 points and also have a game in hand. So, if they can pick up all three points against Spurs then it will be almost impossible for the other title challengers to dethrone them.
