Eric Dier Spurs Premier League
Eric Dier Spurs Premier League

Man City vs Spurs is going to be the showpiece fixture of the Premier League this weekend and as per Daily Mail, Eric Dier is set to make a comeback to the matchday squad.

The defender has been on the sidelines for close to a month now, his last game being at loss at the hands of Chelsea but he’s one of the senior defenders in the side so his return is sure to be a major boost for Antonio Conte.

But Dier’s return is the only bit of positive news since midfielder Oliver Skipp might not be fit in time to play in the Man City vs Spurs tie. Skipp was expected to return this week but as per the report, he has suffered a setback in his recovery process.

If Oliver Skipp is ruled out then Harry Winks is likely to partner Bentancur in central midfielder for this all-important game on Saturday.

Will Eric Dier start in the Man City vs Spurs tie?

Eric Dier has not been at the top of his game this season, having a rating of just 6.85 out of 10 in his 19 Premier League appearances but if he is fully fit he’ll surely start on Saturday.

Spurs have lost three of their previous five matches across all competitions and Davinson Sanches has been one defender who has been constantly found wanting so if Dier is fully fit then he is going to replace the 25-year-old.

As for the formation, Antonio Conte should go with his tried and tested 3-4-3 system for the Manchester City vs Spurs tie as well with Dier, Romero and Ben Davies as the three central defenders.

Spurs need to win this tie at any cost if they wish to stand a chance at finishing in the top four and with Dier’s return they have a slightly better chance at keeping the Man City forwards at bay.

But if they wish to pick up all three points then players like Harry Kane and Son have to score early so that their defenders have something to defend.
