Ralf Rangnick Man United

Man United are failing to get results in recent weeks but there’s no denying that Ralf Rangnick has been able to work his magic somewhat. They are slowly catching up with the likes of Man City and Liverpool, at least in the attacking aspects.

Man City and Liverpool have more or less secured the top two spots on the Premier League table and without a doubt, they are two of the most attack-minded teams in the whole of Europe. But since Rangnick has taken charge, the Red Devils have been creating a lot more chances.

Man United are just behind Man City and Liverpool:

As per the latest statistics, Manchester United have an xG of 33.8 which is currently the third-highest in the Premier League. Teams like Liverpool and Man City have xG’s of 47 and 41.8 respectively which are obviously far greater than United’s but given the poor season they are having, an xG of almost 34 is great for the Old Trafford outfit.

Chelsea and Spurs are next on the list with xG’s of 28.7 and 28 respectively.

These are obviously the statistics for the whole season but even specifically under their interim boss, Man United are holding the same position.

United have an xG of 26.93 ever since Ralf Rangnick took charge in the first week of December. During this same period, Man City have an xG of 35.01(2nd), Liverpool have an xG of 35.16(3rd).

Surprisingly, Chelsea drop to the 8th position during this time with an xG of just 17.36.

Man United are also taking more shots on goal:

During the ongoing season, Man United have taken 302 shots on goal from open play which is also the third-best in the league, behind Liverpool and Manchester City.

Most of these shots from Manchester United have come since Rangnick has taken charge which is a clear indication that the Red Devils are more attack-minded under the German.

xG and Shots for the 21/22 EPL season

Here’s where the other three are ahead of Man United:

Man United might be improving but the likes of Man City, Liverpool and also Chelsea are picking up constant wins whereas United are choking almost each and every game.

Also, the Red Devils are really poor when it comes to set-pieces as they have managed only 89 shots from set plays and have an xG of just 7.1.

The OT outfit had a really good game against Watford but they failed to find the back of the net, thereby dropping to precious points. On the same weekend, Man City pushed hard and scored an 82nd-minute goal to pick up a 1-0 win against Everton.

This is currently the principal issue that Manchester United need to sort or else they won’t be able to finish in the top four.

Ralf Rangnick has successfully been able to instil an attacking mentality within the side but if his players fail to convert chances then there’s nothing he can do.
