West Ham United are reportedly looking to put midfielder Declan Rice up for sale this summer in order to raise funds for reinforcements.
Rice was wanted by multiple clubs last summer but the Hammers managed to hold onto him. But Moyes is ready to part ways with the midfielder this year due to the financial crunch the club’s about to face in the coming months.
And pundit Jamie Carragher has urged Manchester United to make a move for him primarily due to the versatility of the 21-year-old England international.
“He reminds me a bit of myself,” he told Sky Sports, as quoted by TEAMtalk.
“I started in midfield and went back to centre-back.
“I’m a big fan of Declan Rice because he’s come in and had people say he’s great over different stages. Then this season he’s struggled a bit.
“That happens to every player, everyone’s talking about you, then you have a bit of criticism. I think he’s got a bit of character, he never hides, he’s playing in central midfield as a young lad. I think he’s better on the ball than he’s given credit for.”
Manchester United’s aren’t the only club who will be interested in Declan Rice if he goes up for sale since Chelsea too have been linked with him in the past.
West Ham know how valuable Rice is which is why Moyes is expected to ask for a transfer fee of around £70 million in exchange for the youngster.
Yes, this is a steep fee but if he’s really available in the market, Solskjaer should not think twice before dropping in a bid.
The likes of Fred and Scott McTominay have done a really fine job this season but Ole could lose both Matic and Paul Pogba at the end of this season. And this is the case then Declan Rice will be the perfect player to bring in through the doors.
The player is under contract at the London Stadium until 2024 meaning the Hammers will try and squeeze out as much money as possible from the transfer of their most prized asset.
