Man United could be without five first-team players when they take on Liverpool on Sunday

Man United head to Anfield this weekend to take on Liverpool in the EPL and it seems like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be without a few of his key players.

The first and obvious doubt is forward Anthony Martial after he picked up a hamstring injury against Burnley and is now facing a race against time to be fit for Sunday. Apart from the Frenchman, Nemanja Matic also seemed to hurt his groin in midweek and could remain on the sidelines on Sunday.

“I’m going to give everyone another day. Anthony is not out of it,” he said, as quoted.

“The only ones certainly out are Brandon and Phil Jones, they’re the two that definitely cannot make the game, a couple of others maybe doubts, but we’re hoping, fingers crossed.

“Form goes out of the window when you play your rivals but our form gives us confidence, we’re confident going into the game.

“We’re the challengers, they’re the champions, they’ve earned the right to be champions, we’re challengers and hunters and you want something that they’ve had and they have.

“Our mentality will be to work hard, to be humble, and to do our best and see what we can get out of the game. For me, I’d rather be on top and have the points than chasing, but we are the challengers, we are the hunters, we are chasing the champions, over the course of a long season.

“They’ve got the cup, they are the champions, they are the ones everyone would like to beat and my players are the same.

“We are playing against the team that were best team in England last season, they’ve been incredible at home.

“Our mentality and mindset will be we need that extra edge, we have to be humble and fight for every single inch of grass. Because any little detail can decide one of these games, we’ve definitely not thought we’re at the top and everyone is there to chase us.”

Centre-back Victor Lindelof is also recovering from a lower-back injury and there’s a chance he will not be a 100% for this weekend’s game meaning Eric Bailly will once again partner Harry Maguire in central defence.
