Man United take on Newcastle United in the Premier League this weekend and the manager could miss some very important players for this encounter at Old Trafford.

Edinson Cavani and Donny van de Beek missed the Real Sociedad game in midweek due to injuries and the pair remains a doubt for Sunday’s match as well.

Apart from these two, Scott McTominay could also be unavailable for selection after the midfielder picked up an injury during the second half of the Europa League game in Turin.

“We think, or hope, both of them [Donny and Edinson will be fit] but we’re not sure,“ Ole said, as quoted by Manutd.com.

“Maybe one, maybe two, maybe none. It’s one of those tight ones where you’ve got to make a call, probably after training on Saturday.

“Of course, Paul is out and Phil is out. I don’t know how Scott is. I don’t know how Donny and Edinson will be either.

“They’ve got a chance, I think, so we’ve just got to give them until before training on Saturday as we need to pick a team on Saturday. We’ll see how they are and hopefully they can both be available.”

Ole has made it clear that Paul Pogba will not play any matches this month and now the fresh injury to Scott McTominay is a big issue for the Man United boss.

If McTominay is not fit in time then Nemanja Matic will play alongside Fred in central midfield and whenever the Serbian starts, the pace of the side drops considerably.

Van de Beek will not be missed so much since the summer signing has not played too many games this season but Edinson Cavani has been a key figure up front and his absence will be another problem for Ole.

Anthony Martial will lead the line if Cavani is deemed unfit but the Frenchman has not had the same sort of effect whenever he’s played as a centre-forward this season.
