Man United beat West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday and next up they face AC Milan in the Europa League Round of 16. And as per the manager, this game could see the return of a number of his key first-team players.
Crucial performers such as Pogba, De Gea and Cavani have all been missing from the first-team squad over the past few matches, due to various reasons but Ole expects all of them to be available in midweek.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said, as per Manutd.com: “He’s[De Gea] finishing his isolation period today. Hopefully, he’ll be back in training tomorrow after a ‘test to release’ because you’ve got to follow all the protocols.
“So, hopefully, the test comes back the way we want it.
“We hope, we actually hope all five of them will be back. David [De Gea] hopefully, Donny [van de Beek], Edinson [Cavani], Paul [Pogba] maybe, and Anthony [Martial] is very likely to be back. So a stronger squad to travel to Italy with.”
This is a huge boost for the Man United manager since his side go into the second leg with a lot to do.
Milan managed to secure that crucial away goal at Old Trafford so the Premier League side will at least need to find the back of the net once on Thursday.
Bruno Fernandes has been carrying the side on his shoulders all throughout this season and if Paul Pogba is somehow fit enough to start then Man United will surely the favourites to move to the next round.
Cavani has also been in good nick this season and if he is fit then Mason Greenwood will operate on the right wing. Martial will also be back to full fitness but if Cavani is available then the Frenchman is expected to start on the bench.
