According to a report in The Telegraph, Man United want to bring in a new central midfielder during the summer which is why they are likely to target Brighton’s pair, Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister.

Casemiro has done a wonderful job since joining Manchester United but after his recent string of suspensions, Erik ten Hag has realised that he won’t be able to rely on the Brazilian each and every week.

The Dutch manager will likely sell off McTominay at the end of this season which is why he wants to add a new central midfielder with the utmost priority.

Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister have brought a lot of attention this season but if Man United are seriously interested in the pair then it’s bad news for Chelsea and Arsenal.

Caicedo wanted to join the Gunners in January but Brighton and Arsenal could not agree on a fee and the experts strongly believe Mikel Arteta will go back for him in the summer.

As far as Mac Allister is concerned, he won the World Cup with Argentina so obviously, he will be in demand and the 24-year-old has been heavily linked with Chelsea.

Both the midfielders are valued in excess of £70 million meaning Man United will only sign one of them and we think it will be more sensible for them to go after the Argentine rather than Caicedo.

Caicedo wanted to join Mikel Arteta’s side at the start of 2023 and if Arsenal can agree on a transfer fee in the summer then the 21-year-old will definitely want to join the Gunners, more so if they are crowned the EPL champions.

Mac Allister, on the other hand, was ex-manager Graham Potter’s choice but now that he’s gone, we don’t think Chelsea will go back for him. The Blues have signed Enzo Fernandes plus they already have others like Kante, Kovacic and Gallagher.

No matter what unfolds this season, Man United need to strengthen their midfield in the summer because the pairing of Casemiro and Eriksen won’t be able to take them through for another whole season. Either Caicedo or Mac Allister has the potential to play alongside Christian Eriksen but the million-dollar question is if they will be ready to remain the understudy to Casemiro for the next season.
