Man United have been troubled with constant injuries but Erik ten Hag is expected to have some important players back in action right after the international break.
This season, Ten Hag has been hit with 14 different injuries which is the joint highest of all the Premier League teams and right now, 11 players are on the sidelines with various knocks.
Players like Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez and Jonny Evans are long-term absentees but this international break has come as a blessing for the Man United manager because a few of the injured ones should be back in contention.
Luke Shaw has been missing from action for several months but the left-back has finally returned to training which is a big boost for ETH. Shaw has been tipped to make a comeback after the break so the England international could be in the matchday squad against Everton next weekend.
Shaw’s return is going to be a big plus for the Man United manager because with Martinez and Evans out injured, the left-back could be used in the left centre-back’s role. The CB position is not alien for the full-back and with Luke Shaw in that role, United will once again have the ability to play out from the back.
Amad Diallo has also returned to individual training and will be in contention for the Everton game. The youngster is not expected to start but he will atleast be some competition for Antony in the right-winger’s position.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka missed the Luton game with illness and he will also return on Sunday.
Rasmus Hojlund’s thigh strain is thankfully not severe and he’s taken the break to recover. However, there are doubts about the Everton game but he will definitely be back when Man United play Galatasaray in the Champions League.
For the trip to Goodison Park, Rashford will be the one to lead the line with Garnacho and Antony as the two wingers.
Andre Onana was the injury casualty for Man United during the international break as he picked up a knock playing for Cameroon against Mauritius. The extent of his pelvic injury is not known yet but he’s currently a doubt for United’s next league game.
If the keeper is not available then summer signing Altay Bayindir will be in line to start in front of goal.
Overall, things are still not perfect for Man United but if key players like Hojlund and Luke Shaw are back then at least Erik ten Hag won’t have to make too many adjustments and rotations.
