Man United, as expected, suffered a loss to Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday night and in that match, Paul Pogba, yet again, picked up an injury.

The Frenchman has sustained several injury setbacks during the course of this season and now he becomes the sixth Manchester United player who’s moved to the treatment table.

Unlike teams like Liverpool, Chelsea and City, Man United are currently playing only in the Premier League, still so many players are picking up constant injuries. With half-a-dozen players out injured, United now have to face Arsenal and Chelsea and Ralf Rangnick has been quick to point out the fact that the treatment situation needs to be corrected asap.

“Muscular injury in his calf… he pulled his muscle,” he said, as quoted. “This is now the seventh or eighth player missing with injury and we’re only playing in one competition. It has to raise some questions.

“I’m not happy about that at all, but this is the sad truth right now and we have to accept it.

“Liverpool are playing in four competitions and have no injuries, this is also on how you train. What you do, what measures you take in order to recover and be fully fit. These are the questions that need to be asked.

“You can change it, other clubs change it. Why should their players be fitter than our players? This is not something that has to be automatically like that.”

The Manchester United manager has finally spoken about an issue that has been overlooked by almost everyone but this aspect has been a big reason why United are not able to find consistency.

Raphael Varane had been with Real Madrid for 10 years and the most number of days he was out consecutively was 143 when he had ruptured his outer Meniscus, way back in 2013. But since he’s joined Manchester United, the defender has already missed 17 games and the season is not yet over.

In another example, a few seasons ago Romelu Lukaku was gaining a lot of weight when he was at Man United but as soon as he joined Inter, the medical team promptly found out that his digestive system was malfunctioning.

A simple change in diet helped him lose half a stone of weight in just 12 days but this minor problem went unnoticed by the Manchester United team.

Players like Ronaldo, Pogba, Varane and even Luke Shaw have repeatedly picked up injuries this season and all these are key players which means the team’s performances have also taken a blow.

At least, Ralf Rangnick has identified this issue and since Man United are planning an overhaul, this factor should also be looked into in the coming months.

Man United have just announced that two of their leading scouts Jim Lawlor and Marcel Bout will depart the club during the summer and maybe the new manager will also look to bring in a new team of physios so that all these unwanted and untimely injuries can be stopped.
