Man United manager Erik ten Hag held his first official press conference for the club and here he was asked some really important and candid questions.

He was obviously asked about how his playing style is going to be and what he intends to do in the transfer market but the Dutch manager was asked questions regarding the future of the current Man United players as well.

The first one was obviously Donny van de Beek who has been pushed to the shadows at Old Trafford but ETH has made it clear that the midfielder will get a chance to prove himself once again.

When asked if Van de Beek stays or not, the new boss said: “Yes, of course, we had a fantastic squad in that time in Ajax.

“I really had a good relationship with him and, of course, I’m looking forward to meeting him again on the pitch.”

The second man was Cristiano Ronaldo since there have been rumours that the forward might be sold because he won’t be able to adapt to Ten Hag’s playing style.

Ten Hag was quick to make it clear why Ronaldo remains an asset at Manchester United.

He said: “Ronaldo? Goals!” He then stressed he would go over his plans with the Portugal international soon.

“I talk first with Ronaldo before I talk with you,”

Another player who has been under the scanner is Harry Maguire because the England international has been one of the poorest players, not only at Manchester United but in the whole of the Premier League.

There have been rumours that the manager might get rid of the current club captain but Erik ten Hag has made it clear that the centre-back remains a key part of the squad.

“I have to repeat that next season is a different season but I think he did a great job,” said the manager. “He’s a great player, he’s achieved already a lot really also [with his] contribution to Manchester United. So I’m looking forward to working with him.”

Will all three Man United become a key part of the squad next season?

Ronaldo will obviously remain at Man United but the club will look to bring in a younger striker during the summer. CR7 will definitely leave next year so the club will have to prepare accordingly.

Van de Beek will also get a new lease of life due to Ten Hag’s arrival but the same cannot be said about Harry Maguire. He had a wonderful time with Ajax and the midfielder will be hoping that he can revive the same form next season.

Yes, ETH has put his faith in the defender but the manager needs centre-backs who have pace and can play out from the back. The England international does not have either quality so we think the new boss will look to find a new partner for Raphael Varane.

Ten Hag’s teams like to play out from the back and if Man United are the play in the same way then Harry Maguire needs to get rid of.
