Man United have lost their latest Premier League game against Liverpool 5-0 at Old Trafford. And this certainly is the lowest United have been under Solskjaer’s regime.

The home side did go into this match as the second-favourites but there’s no way anyone could have imagined such a laughable scoreline. And it could have been much worse since Man United were playing with 10 men for the final thirty minutes of the match.

Ole’s side firstly had no plan on how to stop Liverpool from playing their A-game and to make matters worse the players looked completely out of sorts from the very first minute.

Not one single player looked like they were playing against one of their fiercest rivals and perhaps the basic thing missing from United’s performances was the will to be the better team and win all three points.

It will be interesting to see how Man United respond to this defeat and most importantly if the board now consider sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Man United player ratings vs Liverpool:

De Gea: 4.5/10

Conceded five goals on home turf but to be honest he could do very little since the defenders in front of him were playing really mediocre football.

Lindelof: 5/10

Lindelof was supposed to be the weak link in the back line but in the end, he was the one was who looked the best amongst the back four. Obviously, he played really poorly but as compared to the others, he should be walking with his chin up.

Harry Maguire: 4/10

Maguire is the captain of Manchester United but the England international played like a total novice, especially in the first half. He was at fault for several of the goals that Liverpool scored and to be honest, Ole might have to rethink his first-choice defensive pairing once Varane is back to full fitness.

Luke Shaw: 4.5/10

Shaw started the season in brilliant form but he was all over the place on Sunday. He got overwhelmed trying to handle Mo Salah and Alexander-Arnold and more often than not he was caught napping by the wide runners.

Wan-Bissaka: 5/10

The only thing he is good at is defending but the right-back did not even manage to do that properly on Sunday. He lost five duels during the match and also picked up a yellow card.

McTominay: 5.6/10

For a player who’s so strongly built, McTominay was constantly bullied in midfield by the Liverpool players and the Scottish international hardly won any second balls. He did manage to help his defenders out on a lot of occasions though, making five recoveries and two interceptions.

Fred: 5.5/10

Fred has never been able to play better than average football at Man United and the same was the case on Sunday as well. Like always he couldn’t stand up to challenges and lacked an eye for a forward pass, moving the ball mostly sideways.

Greenwood: 5/10

The youngster did not have anything to do in the attacking third as he was mostly helping out in defence, stopping Robertson from making those late runs.

Bruno Fernandes: 5.5/10

Had one good chance during the first few minutes of the match but from there onwards, the Portuguese international was just chasing shadows. He was devoid of service from central midfield and was taken off in the second half once Paul Pogba was sent off.

Rashford: 4.8/10

This was his first big match since returning from injury so naturally, he was a bit rusty. And this was clearly visible in his decision making, especially in the final third.

Ronaldo: 5/10

Devoid of service so he was running around like a headless chicken for most of the match. He did score a goal in the second half but it was ruled out due to offside.

Substitutes:

Paul Pogba: 3/10

The Frenchman started the game on the bench but was brought on in the second half with Manchester United chasing the game. But all he managed to do was put in a two-footed challenge and pick up a red card in the 60th minute.

Edinson Cavani: 5/10

Came on as a filler once Pogba was sent off. He did have a great chance at scoring during the final quarter but managed to hit the crossbar from a near point-blank range.

Diogo Dalot: 5.8/10
