Man United stumbled against Newcastle United on Sunday but they will have no time to rest and rethink their strategy because, on Wednesday, they welcome Brentford at Old Trafford.

Sunday’s loss has not only shattered their hopes of a Premier League title challenge but now Manchester United are running the risk of missing out on a top-four finish. Currently, Man United are fifth on the league table but a win against the Bees will once again put them back in the fourth spot.

Man United have a really excruciating schedule because after Wednesday’s game, they will take on Everton on Saturday and then next week, they face Sevilla in the Europa League. ETH would love to name the same starting lineup that was featured on Sunday but he will have to rotate in order to prevent any unwanted injuries.

When these two sides met at the start of the season, Brentford scored four goals past Man United but Ten Hag’s team have come a long way since then so we are not expecting a similar scoreline. However, it won’t be a surprise if the Bees manage to pick up something from this midweek tie.

Manchester United’s team news and injuries:

Casemiro is ruled out due to a suspension which means Sabitzer will get another start. McTominay was the one who partnered with Sabitzer on Sunday but this time around, Fred should come into the side.

Christian Eriksen is making great progress but his manager has confirmed that the midfielder is not going to be ready to face Brentford.

The Man United boss told the press: ‘Not tomorrow[vs Brentford]. He is returning on the pitch; he is returning to team training today, so we have to see how quick he can now make the progress.’

Aaron Wan-Bissaka was missing on Tyneside due to an illness but he is likely to replace Dalot on the right-hand side of defence.

Jadon Sancho failed to make an impact off the bench on Sunday but Ten Hag is likely to rest Antony which will allow Sancho to come into the side but he will have to operate on the right wing.

Anthony Martial played 30-odd minutes during the weekend and he will be in line to start on Wednesday. If he is 100% fit then Weghorst is going to move to the bench to make way for the Frenchman.

Man United predicted line up vs Brentford:

Predicted Starting Line up(4-2-3-1): De Gea; Shaw, Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martinez; Fred, Sabitzer; Fernandes, Rashford, Sancho/Antony; Martial/Weghorst.
