Man United take on Spurs in a midweek Premier League fixture on Wednesday night and this is a game where they will have to secure all three points if they wish to remain in the hunt for a top-four spot.

United were held to a goalless draw by Newcastle United this past weekend which means Ten Hag’s side are now 11 points away from the top of the league table. They are three points away from the fourth spot so a win in midweek will help keep the pressure on Chelsea.

Despite their poor form in recent seasons, Manchester United have won their previous three games against Tottenham Hotspur but this season’s Spurs are a totally different beast. Recently, United were humbled by Manchester City and if Ten Hag’s men are not careful then Spurs could walk home with a similar result.

Man United are undefeated in 12 of their last 13 home matches in the Premier League but they go into this crunch tie with a lot of injuries so Ten Hag will have to get his selection spot on or else things will get really challenging for the home team.

Man United’s team news & injuries:

Harry Maguire remains sidelined with a thigh injury and he’s expected to return to training sometime next week. Apart from Maguire, Wan-Bissaka is also ruled out with a muscular injury.

Scott McTominay will return to the side after serving his one-game suspension but Ten Hag’s biggest worry will be with Christian Eriksen who missed the Newcastle game with an illness.

The Man United manager has claimed that the playmaker will go through a late fitness test to determine his availability.

He told the press: ‘[With Christian], we have to wait. He was just on the pitch. We have to see how he recovers from that, and then we will make a decision tomorrow.’

Eriksen’s absence was felt really badly against the Magpies so ETH will be hoping that the summer arrival is fit in time. With him, Man United have no zero creativity in the middle of the park.

Donny van de Beek is also ruled out but he is way down the pecking order for Erik ten Hag to be worried.

The manager has made it clear that Anthony Martial is still recovering from his lower back injury which means Ronaldo will once again lead the line against Spurs.

Man United predicted line up vs Spurs:

Predicted Starting XI(4-2-3-1): De Gea; Shaw, Dalot, Varane, Martinez; Casemiro, Eriksen/McTominay; Fernandes, Antony, Sancho; Ronaldo.
