Man United dropped points during the weekend in the Premier League as Aston Villa picked up a 1-0 win at Old Trafford. But Ole and his boys do not have the time to sit and sulk since they now take on Villarreal in midweek.

These two sides met only a few months ago in the Europa League final, a game where the Spanish side beat United on penalties. But we are genuinely hoping to see a positive result for the England side this time around.

Man United are expected to deal with a few injury concerns going into Wednesday’s game but Solskjaer has tremendous bench strength so we are anticipating him to name a very strong starting line up.

The 1-0 loss to Villa should give Villarreal some hope but they themselves have made a really average start to their domestic campaign(winning just out of their first six matches) so we don’t see them pulling the rabbit out of the hat.

Man United team news vs Villarreal:

Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire both picked up injuries during Saturday’s defeat and we are yet to know the full extent of the knocks. But one thing’s for sure that neither of them is going to feature in the matchday squad on Wednesday.

The absence of Maguire means Victor Lindelof will pair up with Varane in central defence and Alex Telles will come back into the side on the left-hand side.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is unavailable due to a suspension meaning Dalot will get a chance to feature on the right-hand side of defence.

Fred and McTominay are both likely to be rested as Paul Pogba will come back into midfield. Donny van de Beek is also an option but we don’t think Ole is going to use him against Villarreal – not in the starting line up at least.

Nemanja Matic is also going to start alongside Paul Pogba with Bruno Fernandes playing in the No 10 role.

Jadon Sancho is yet to kickstart his career at Man United but since he was not used against Villa, the England international should get a chance to start in midweek.

Greenwood was one of the better players for Man United during the weekend and he should get another start on the right flank.

Cristiano Ronaldo played the full 90 minutes on Saturday so Solskjaer will look to rest him against Villarreal, more so since Edinson Cavani is now back to full fitness.
