Man United kicked off their post-Ten Hag era with a commanding 5-2 win over Leicester City in midweek and they will want to continue this run when they face Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.
Ruud van Nistelrooy’s fate has been sealed because Ruben Amorim is going to take over as the new head coach very soon however, the interim boss will be eager to add a win over Chelsea to his managerial portfolio.
Even though Man United are in a positive mindset thanks to their midweek win, they will have their work cut out on Sunday because this Chelsea team under Maresca is in peak form right now. While Man United are sitting 14th on the EPL table, the Blues are pushing for a top-four finish and they are currently just one point away from that target.
Man United have won just one out of their previous five league games but we are expecting a very energetic and enthusiastic approach from their players at the weekend because all of them will be eager to impress their new boss.
Manchester United’s team news and injuries:
RVP is dealing with a long injury list which includes the likes of Mainoo, Maguire, Shaw and a few others.
Christian Eriksen picked up a knock during the West Ham United game and the Man United interim manager has admitted that the midfielder is facing a race against time to be fit for the Chelsea encounter.
“We’re still hoping and working hard to get Christian Eriksen part of the squad. He’s working hard to make it in the last moment,” Van Nistelrooy told the press.
“And other than that, there’s no news on players that will be available, any other than [Wednesday].”
Victor Lindelof will move to the bench which means Lisandro Martinez will come into central defence and Mazraoui will start at full-back.
Mainoo, Mount and Eriksen’s absence means Casemiro and Ugarte will once again pair up in central midfield with Bruno Fernandes playing in the No. 10 role.
Joshua Zirkzee is yet to click in the Premier League and most of the time, he looks clueless. For Sunday, the Man United interim boss will not think twice before swapping Zirkzee with Rasmus Hojlund.
Amad has started this season very brightly but with Rashford and Garnacho ahead of him in the pecking order, he is struggling to get regular starts. Ideally, he should start ahead of Rashford but we don’t think RVP will take any unnecessary risks this weekend.
Man United looked a very free-flowing side against the Foxes but it will be interesting to see how they approach the Chelsea game.
Man United predicted lineup vs Chelsea:
