Man United thumped 7 goals past Barnsley in the EFL Cup in midweek and the Red Devils will be looking to make it three wins in a row when they face Crystal Palace in matchweek five of the Premier League.
Palace away from home is always a tricky fixture and last season, Manchester United had suffered a 4-0 loss at Selhurst Park. Ten Hag’s players are slowly picking up momentum and a win against the Eagles will be a major statement of intent from them.
United are currently 10th on the league table with six points from their first four games and they will have to pick up all three points on Saturday to be able to maintain pace with the likes of Liverpool, Villa and Chelsea.
Manchester United’s team news and injuries for the weekend:
Leny Yoro, Luke Shaw, Malacia and Lindelof are all ruled out for Saturday but the good news for Man United is that Rasmus Hojlund and Mason Mount have returned to training this week.
The pair were seen training with the rest of the first-team squad and they should be available for selection as well. However, neither of them is going to start because Joshua Zirkzee has done a great job up front and Ten Hag won’t even think of removing Bruno Fernandes from the No. 10 role.
Both De Ligt and Martinez had injury scares last weekend but the ex-Ajax defenders are fully fit and will start against the Eagles.
Manuel Ugarte played 62 minutes in the 7-0 win over Barnsley and he will be named in central midfield once again alongside Kobbie Mainoo who was rested in midweek.
Alejandro Garnacho scored two and assisted two goals in the EFL Cup victory and he will surely be looking for a start at Selhurst Park. The Man United manager will use Marcus Rashford on the left flank but there’s a major possibility that Ten Hag will name Garnacho ahead of Amad.
At 1.8 shots per match, Joshua Zirkzee has the most shots on target per match for Manchester United this season but now, the summer signing will have to start converting his chances into goals because Hojlund has returned to full fitness.
Man United predicted lineup vs Crystal Palace:
Predicted starting lineup(4-2-3-1): Onana; De Ligt, Lisandro Martinez; Mazraoui, Dalot; Mainoo, Ugarte; Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Garnacho; Zirkzee.
