Manchester United have officially parted ways with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as confirmed by a statement on Sunday morning.

After losing to Watford on Saturday, it was almost certain that the Norwegian would be shown the door and Fabrizio Romano had confirmed this news early on Sunday.

And now, Manchester United have gone ahead and rubber-stamped this decision.

The official statement read: “Manchester United announces that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has left his role as manager.

“Ole will always be a legend at Manchester United and it is with regret that we have reached this difficult decision.

“While the past few weeks have been disappointing, they should not obscure all the work he has done over the past three years to rebuild the foundations for long-term success.”

The club have also confirmed that Michael Carrick will take charge right now as they look to bring in an interim manager for the remainder of the season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge of Manchester United as the caretaker boss in 2018 and after a string of great results, he got the permanent job in 2019.

After making some great signings this summer, everyone expected Man United to finally compete for the Premier League title. But instead, they have slumped to a new low, losing four out of their previous five league matches.

Now that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has vacated his position, the hunt for the new manager begins and several big names are doing the rounds as of now.

Managers like Zidane, Brendan Rodgers and Ten Hag are being linked with the Man United job so we will now have to wait and see which way do the Glazers walk.
