Man United suffer triple injury blow days before they take on Liverpool

Man United beat Watford 1-0 in the 3rd Round of the FA Cup this weekend but the Red Devils went into the match without some of their key players.

Solskjaer was expected to make a few changes to his starting XI on Saturday but the trio of Pogba, Luke Shaw and Lindelof were all missing from the matchday squad. While Man United did not miss them too badly but it has been confirmed that all the above-mentioned players missed the Hornets game due to injuries.

The Daily Mail reported: “Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed Paul Pogba missed out on the Manchester United squad which faced Watford in the FA Cup on Saturday due to injury.

“Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw were also ruled out before the game, and the United boss will also have to check on Eric Bailly after he suffered a blow to the head during the match.”

Man United take on Burnley in midweek in the Premier League following which they head to Anfield to take on Liverpool. And the injuries to players like Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw will surely be a cause of concern for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Eric Bailly only suffered a knock on his head in the first half on Saturday and the manager was optimistic that he’ll return to action quickly.

“There was no concussion,” Old said, as per ManUtd.com. “Apparently it was his neck – a sore neck. But he couldn’t carry on, so let’s check on him tomorrow.”

Bailly has been in top form recently so if he’s fit by the end of next weekend then Lindelof will not be a big miss against Liverpool.

Hopefully, the injuries to Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw are not serious either since both these players will be guaranteed starters vs Jurgen Klopp’s side next Sunday.

Ole does have proper backups in each of the two departments though with Alex Telles playing pretty good football at left-back and Donny van de Beek having a pretty decent outing against Watford in the FA Cup.
