Man United managed to hold Chelsea to a 1-1 draw despite all the odds but they still can’t breathe easy since they will now face Arsenal in midweek in the Premier League.

Ralf Rangnick has been officially appointed as the interim manager but we don’t think he will be in the dugout this week when Arsenal come to Old Trafford. It’s Michael Carrick who will be in charge on Thursday but there’s no doubt that Rangnick will have some influence in this starting line up.

The Gunners have been on a roll this weekend so it will not be a walk in the park for Man United by any means. In fact, keeping United’s recent form in mind it will not be a big surprise if they slump to another loss.

Man United are in a really bad run of form, winning just one out of their previous five outings. Carrick will also be without some key players who are still missing with injuries but what will be interesting to see what changes does the coach make to his starting lineup after going ultra defensive against Chelsea on Sunday.

There are rumours that Ralf Rangnick might ask Carrick to play a 3-5-2 system but we have a feeling that the formation will be pretty similar to what Man United had used in the 1-1 draw.

Man United team news and absentees vs Arsenal:

Bailly and Lindelof played as the first-choice central defenders but now that Harry Maguire is back from suspension, one of Bailly or Lindelof will drop to the bench.

Luke Shaw missed Sunday’s game with a concussion but the left-back should be fit enough to play against Arsenal on Thursday night.

Fred, McTominay and Nemanja Matic all played in central midfield vs Chelsea but one if not two of them will most likely drop to the bench.

If Man United use the 4-3-1-2 formation once again then Matic is going to make way for Donny van de Beek who played only a few minutes towards the end of the 1-1 draw.

Bruno Fernandes should be a key player under interim manager Ralf Rangnick and there’s no way Michael Carrick will be dropping him to the bench.

Jadon Sancho is finally getting his touch back so it will be a major blunder for the coach to push him back to the bench.

Carrick came up with a shocker as he chose to keep Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench against Chelsea on Sunday. Rashford played with Jadon Sancho up front in that match but we expect CR7 to come back into the starting line up vs the Gunners.

Last week Edinson Cavani had claimed that he has returned to full fitness but he still did not make it to the Chelsea squad. There’s a chance though that he will remain on the bench this time around.
