Man United managed to turn things around in midweek, coming back from 2-0 down to win vs Atalanta 3-2. And this win was really important since their next match is against Liverpool in the Premier League.

United have been wobbly this season whereas Liverpool are in peak form, so after a really long time, the Old Trafford outfit will be going into the fixture as the proper underdogs.

To make matters worse Man United have won just one of their previous 10 Premier League games and have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last nine home league matches.

A lot of the pressure on Ole was revealed after that win against Atalanta but the Liverpool fixture marks the beginning of a really tough schedule where things can go horribly wrong for the United boss.

Solskjaer has several injuries to deal with so he’s not likely to name his strongest side on Sunday. The home side have failed to pick up a win in their previous three league matches but the kind of form Liverpool are in right now, even a point will feel like a win.

Man United team news and injuries vs Liverpool:

Raphael Varane is out with an injury so Ole has to use Lindelof and Harry Maguire as his main central defensive pairing once again.

Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka started as the full-backs in midweek and they will hold onto their place for Sunday’s game.

Scott McTominay will reprise his role in midfield but the Man United boss will be really worried about the injury to Fred. The Brazilian had to be taken off in the second half but hopefully, he will be ok.

If Fred is not fully fit then Nemanja Matic will partner McTominay.

Paul Pogba started on the bench in midweek and since Liverpool are one of the most intense pressing sides in the league, Solskjaer might be reluctant to use him once again.

Anthony Martial is not likely to return from injury and even if he did, it will be Mason Greenwood who will start on the right flank.

In midweek, Marcus Rashford started his first game since returning from injury but had to be taken off in the 66th minute. But Solskjaer had revealed after the match that it was probably a dead leg and the forward should be fit to play on Sunday.

Asked if he will be fit for the Man United vs Liverpool clash, Ole said, as per the club’s official website: “I don’t know. I hope so and I think so.

“It was a dead leg and sometimes it can take longer than what you want. But if we treat it well, he should be okay.”

Cristiano Ronaldo came up with the goods once again, scoring the winning goal vs Atalanta and he’s a definite starter when Liverpool come to Old Trafford. Edinson Cavani remains an option from the bench.
