Man United urged not to make the Cavani blunder once again: Does Ole have other options?

Man United have made the signing of a new centre-forward their utmost priorities during the upcoming transfer window, and recently Paul Ince had suggested that the Old Trafford outfit could look into Sergio Aguero.

“It’s not as if Harry Kane and Erling Haaland are the only two answers for Man Utd. Sergio Aguero might be leaving Man City, why shouldn’t United make a move for him?” asked Ince, told Ladbrokes, as quoted by The Mirror.

“You could see it now; if he wanted to stay in the Premier League and he’s living in Manchester, then I don’t think it would be a bad thing at all if they went and got Aguero.

“It happened with us back in 1992 when Howard Wilkinson was asking Sir Alex Ferguson about Denis Irwin. Fergie said there’d be no chance of that happening and suggested Leeds sold Cantona to them and within a couple of days that deal was done.

“It was just Fergie throwing a name out there and taking a chance, trying his luck. Maybe that’s what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should do with Aguero this summer.”

Sergio Aguero might have fallen down the pecking order at Man City this season but he still remains a world-class player and he will be available as a free agent in the summer.

All these variables make him a really exciting prospect but according to Ally McCoist, Solskjaer should resist the temptation of signing a centre-forward just to patch up things.

McCoist told on talkSPORT: “I don’t know whether he will do it [join Manchester United] or not, but I think they have already gone for the short term fix in Cavani.

“I don’t think they will go for another 32-year-old for a season.

“I think the time has come for Manchester United to go and get a Harry Kane or indeed break the bank for Haaland.”

Sergio Aguero will enhance any attacking side but we really don’t think he will be ready to join Man United in the summer. Also, Solskjaer had signed Edinson Cavani as a backup to Anthony Martial but the Frenchman has failed miserably this season which is why the Man United boss now wants to bring in someone who can spearhead the attack for at least the next three to four seasons.

And players like Erling Haaland and Harry Kane perfectly fit this job.

Signing either of them will be an uphill task for Man United but the English side have money to spare in the transfer market and this could be one major factor that eventually breaks down Borussia Dortmund as well Daniel Levy’s Spurs.
