Manchester United are currently seventh on the league table and a loss against Arsenal on Wednesday could see them fall out of the top ten of the Premier League.

The Red Devils drew their previous game against Southampton 2-2 and going into the match against the Gunners, Jose Mourinho’s men are serious underdogs.

Man United have a number of injury setbacks and with the way how things are going Jose Mourinho might very well be forced to field a makeshift defensive line.

The first major setback is that of Luke Shaw who picked up a knock against the Saints and is now likely to miss the game against Arsenal on Wednesday.

Ashley Young would have been the obvious replacement for Shaw but the versatile pro is also ruled out of the game due to a suspension.

Antonio Valencia is also suffering from a knock and like Luke Shaw, he too is not expected to be fit for the Arsenal game.

Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof both have picked up a knock but while Lindelof will be out for three more weeks with a hamstring injury, Smalling might return to his usual role at centre-back.

Eric Bailly has a back injury but even if he recovers from his injury the centre-back will only find a place on the bench.

Alexis Sanchez is also suffering from a hamstring injury and he is expected to be fit only in the new year.

With so many defenders out of action, summer signing Diogo Dalot is more or less going to make his Premier League debut for the club but what remains to be seen is who plays in that left-back role.
