Man United take on Leeds United in matchday one of the 21/22 Premier League season and the Old Trafford outfit is expected be without some key first-team players.

Raphael Varane is going through the mandatory isolation phase after arriving from Real Madrid so he is not likely to feature against Leeds next weekend. But Ole has given positive news regarding Jadon Sancho with the forward set to join the rest of the squad on Monday.

Solskjaer told the club’s official website: “The medical with Raphael [still] has to be done. He’s isolating at the moment.

“He had to wait for visas, so unfortunately that took a few more days than expected but we’re going to follow the protocols and the rules, so it’s taken a few more days than we hoped for. Jadon is in for Monday and hopefully then he’s in decent nick and can be involved [against Leeds].”

Jadon Sancho will have one full week to train with his new squad but we do not think the England international will be named in the starting line-up against Bielsa’s side on Saturday.

Apart from the two summer signings, Dean Henderson and Jesse Lingard are also likely to miss the season opener since both of them have tested positive for COVID.

Lingard is yet to test negative while Henderson has recovered but the keeper is not yet physically 100%.

The manager added: “Jesse, he feels okay, and hopefully it’ll stay that way, but when you get the positive test you’ve got to isolate even if you’re feeling well.

“Dean, he was positive early on and then he’s negative in his testing [now] but he’s not felt as energised or sharp as he has done.

“So he’s still fatigued and feeling the after effects so you never know, you’ve seen so many effects of this virus so he’s got a few days still to rest and then we’ll check up on him.”

Dean Henderson was the No 1 for Man United towards the end of the previous campaign but if he is not ready then David De Gea will return in front of goal.

Players like Fred, Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes returned to the line-up for the Everton friendly so they will be ready to face Leeds United next weekend when the new season kicks off.
