Man United suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Everton last weekend and his loss has more or less ended their hopes of a top-four finish.
On paper, they still can get back into the top-four but it will require a lot of poor results from the likes of Spurs and Arsenal, plus they will need to win all of their remaining Premier League matches. A six-point gap is almost impossible to claw back so they will have to win their remaining games so that they can uphold their pride.
In their next outing, Man United take on Norwich City in the Premier League and this is a game that the OT outfit should be winning with ease. Norwich are the bottom-placed side on the league table and so far they have won just five games this season.
Ralf Rangnick has failed to revive this Man United team and against Everton, it seemed like 11 individual players were thrown on the pitch just for the sake of it. The interim boss will love to get back to winning ways and while we expect Man United to pick up all three points but with several big-name players out injured, the home side could struggle to bring in their A-game.
Man United team news vs Norwich City:
The manager has several injuries to deal with and as things stand, none of them might be fit for this weekend’s clash.
Luke Shaw and Raphael Varane missed the Everton game due to a shin injury and a knock respectively and they might be unavailable against Norwich City as well.
We will get to know the final update once Ralf Rangnick holds his press conference but till then, these two players remain ruled out. If Varane is missing then Maguire and Lindelof will have to pair up in central defence once again.
The midfield area could be the biggest cause of concern for the manager because Fred and McTominay are both out injured. McTominay missed the Everton tie due to a knock while Fred picked up a muscle injury during the 36th minute at Goodison Park.
Speaking after the loss, the manager had updated: “Fred had some muscular problems on his hip flexor. We already are without McTominay. Without both defensive midfielders, it isn’t good for us.”
With both the defensive midfielders out Pogba and Nemanja Matic will have to pair up in the middle of the pitch against the Canaries this weekend.
Cristiano Ronaldo had a gash on his leg last weekend but the forward should be fine. He has come under the scanner after his post-match behaviour with a fan but that will not stop Ralf Rangnick from naming him in the first XI.
Also, Edinson Cavani is out with a calf injury so the Man United boss does not have any other choice as well.
