Christian Eriksen playing for Spurs

Christian Eriksen is out of contract with Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season and as per the latest reports, Man United are interested in signing him.

The playmaker joined Spurs in 2013 from Ajax and during the past couple of season, the 27-year-old has turned himself into one of the key players at White Hart Lane.

But the problem with him arose this summer when rumours grew about his exit from the club primarily since Christian Eriksen wanted to win silverware.

While Daniel Levy has been trying really hard to make him sign a new deal at the club but right now there are no signing that Eriksen wants to commit his future to the club meaning Spurs might have no other option but to let him leave in January.

During the 2019-20 season, the Danish international has played in 12 Premier League matches but most of these appearances have come off the bench – both under Mauricio Pochettino and now under Jose Mourinho.

And amidst this, there have been rumours that Manchester United are planning to make a move for Christian Eriksen during the January transfer window.

“Of course, the club would be interested,” a United source has told 90min.

“The club have a longstanding interest in Eriksen, but the player would need to make it known he is keen on the move – something he hasn’t been in previous windows.”

Man United tried to sign Eriksen during the summer as well but back then Spurs were able to hold onto him successfully. But with the player becoming a free agent next year, the North London club might have no other option but to cash in on their playmaker in January.

This though does not mean Man United are favourites to sign Christian Eriksen since a host of top European clubs are waiting in line for his signature.

Clubs like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus are all interested in signing the 27-year-old and leapfrogging over these giants will be one hell of a task for Man United.

But there are reports that Eriksen might want to remain in England instead of trying his luck at another club which is true will automatically put the Old Trafford outfit in the driver’s seat.
