Manchester United take on Everton in a Premier League midweek clash. Everton are close on the heels of United as Mourinho’s team try to secure that elusive fourth place spot. Both the teams come into this match are a set of disappointing results in the weekend. United were held to a frustrating draw at home by West Brom. While Ronald Koeman’s side suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of local rivals, Liverpool.

Injuries:

Man Utd have a few players who are on the injury list as of now. Most notable among them is definitely Juan Mata who is expected to be out for a fair amount of time due to a groin surgery. Chris Smalling and Phil Jones also remain unavailable due to injuries.

Returning players:

Mourinho can finally breathe easy after a string first teams players will be available for selection. Ibrahimovic and Herrera both return from their respective suspensions. And without a doubt, they will be immediately thrown into first team action. Pogba, who missed the West Brom game with a slight injury will also be back in midfield.

Defence:

Man Utd’s defending lineup might see a bit of chance. Ashley Young will hopefully be given a rest from his left back role. Both Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind are available for left back. But we think that Mourinho might opt for Luke Shaw after the Englishman was included in the eighteen man squad earlier today. With Smalling and Jones both out with injuries the central defensive partnership will remain the same as from this weekend.

Midfield:

Mourinho will definitely trust Pogba and Herrera with midfield duties against Everton. The pair had been rather successful in midfield before Herrera received a suspension. With Juan Mata out Mkhitaryan might receive another start and will probably play in the hole behind the Swede.

Attack:

Rashford might be given a rest and Martial is likely to partner Ibrahimovic upfront. Lingard might also feature up front especially after his wonderful performance against West Brom. But banking on Mourinho’s previous selections it would be no surprise if he decided to rest Martial and play Rashford.
