Zlatan Ibrahimovic arrived at Manchester Untied from PSG and turned out to be an instant hit at the club. But a horrible knee injury in April cut his season short.

Ibrahimovic played no further part and once the season got over United decided against providing the Swede with a new contract. But rumours were afloat that United were monitoring the player’s recovery and might decide to offer him a short-term contract once he is deemed fit. The club also allowed Zlatan to train at it’s Carrington training facilities in order to help his recovery.

But now it looks as if Ibrahimovic could be on his way to Spain. Reports have emerged that Atletico Madrid might be looking to sign the player in the new year. Atletico who are currently going through a transfer ban cannot buy any players this summer. But once the ban is lifted in December, Atletico are hoping to make the Swede their first signing of the season.

Atletico Madrid’s President Enrique Cerezo had confirmed his club’s interest in the player saying that. “We’ll speak with Ibrahimovic in January, but right now we can’t sign anyone.”

Atletico Madrid are also supposed to be chasing Chelsea’s, Diego Costa. This, after the Spaniard, made a public announcement that Conte no longer wants him at Chelsea. But signing Costa will be a bit difficult for Atletico Madrid because then the player will have to sit out for six long months before he becomes eligible to play in January. Atletico also do not have to option to buy him now and loan him out immediately. As it is not allowed by FIFA.

But with showing interest in Ibrahimovic, Atletico Madrid are clearly keeping their options open for the January transfer window.
