Both Manchester clubs show interest in Schmeichel Jr

0

Recently both Manchester United as well as Manchester City, have shown a keen interest in Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel. Leicester have not been able to replicate their form from last season and have narrowly escaped the jaws of relegation. And if reports are to be believed then their goalkeeper might leave for greener pastures in the summer.

Manchester United:

Manchester United might very well lose their prolific goalkeeper come the end of this season. David De Gea might head back to Spain to join Zinedine Zidane’s, Real Madrid. If De Gea does leave then Mourinho will definitely want to fill the gaping hole. United also have Atletico’s Oblak on their radar but Mourinho will more likely want someone who is more accustomed to the Premier League. And most importantly, Kasper’s father is a club legend at Old Trafford and it will not be surprising if his father persuades him to join the Red Devils.

Manchester City:

Pep Guardiola has also reportedly shown interest in Kasper Schmeichel. After Guardiola came to the club, then goalkeeper Joe Hart had a fall out with the manager and left the club on loan to Torino. Guardiola brought in Claudio Bravo as the new number one simply because he wanted to build the play from the back. But his plans have gone horribly wrong. Bravo has given some really bad performances. And has also made a series of childish errors that have time and again cost his side. Guardiola will look to rectify his mistake and bring in a more stable pair of hands in front of goal.

Kasper Schmeichel had been rock solid in defence during Leicester’s title-winning campaign. He has not been able to replicate the same form this season. This is also down to the fact that his defensive line has not performed very well. But having said that, Kasper Schmeichel remains a top goalkeeper. And it will not be a surprise if he decides to join either of the Manchester clubs in the transfer window.
