Manchester United have already brought in Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho this summer and most experts believe the signing of a new central midfielder is next on their agenda.

The Old Trafford outfit have been linked with midfielders such as Ruben Neves, Camavinga, Saul Niguez and Declan Rice but according to The Athletic reporter Laurie Whitwell, Man United are not likely to sign anyone this summer.

‘Camavinga appears to offer the most realistic recruit,’ Whitwell said while updating about all the potential targets, as quoted. ‘The 18-year-old has one year left on his Rennes contract so his price this summer would be reduced as a result.

‘Saul has been on United’s radar since the days of David Moyes.

‘Both players are represented by Stellar, an agency with which United have a good relationship.

‘Neves, in Jorge Mendes’s stable, has been scouted and Wolverhampton Wanderers have sold key players in the past but he has three years left on his contract.’

Will Manchester United be able to bring in a new central midfielder?

With Pogba’s future in doubt, Manchester United have been actively scouting a new midfielder but if this report from The Athletic is to be believed then United are not likely to get the job done this summer.

Declan Rice has shown no signs of discontent yet so West Ham United are really confident of holding onto him for at least one more season. And with Chelsea also interested in him, Manchester United will not find it easy to sign the England international.

As far as Camavinga is concerned, the midfielder is ready to take his chances by snubbing a move during the ongoing transfer window.

Saul Niguez is also being eyed by Liverpool while Ruben Neves is wanted by Arsenal.

Manchester United already have several central midfielders in their first-team squad right now which is why Ole is might be ready to take his chances and stick with the duo of Fred and McTominay for one more season.

Also, some rumours have suggested that Man United are not pushing for a new midfielder since they are confident that Paul Pogba will sign a new deal this year.
