Premier League side Arsenal seem to have given up hopes in signing Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli, with Juventus leading the race to sign him.

The Gunners have been keeping tabs on the 23-year-old but according to Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League side are no longer interested in signing him.

Inside Futbol cites the transfer expert writing: “According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have now completely stopped working on a deal for Locatelli.

“The Gunners appear to have given up on the idea of signing Locatelli from Sassuolo this summer and are chasing other options.”

In a recent interview, Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali had claimed that the club will only let the defensive midfielder leave if the right offer is tabled

He said: “We’re waiting for the right bid for Locatelli… if it doesn’t arrive, he’ll stay here. We’re not going to sell our best players later in August”

And even the rumours in Italy have been suggesting that Manuel Locatelli has his heart set on joining Juventus and if this deal doesn’t happen in the summer then he is willing to wait for one more season.

Arsenal seem to have understood that it will be nearly impossible to bring Manuel Locatelli to England which is why they have backed off.

Also, Granit Xhaka is on the verge of agreeing on a new deal with Arsenal and the Gunners are still interested in Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves so it makes no sense in chasing a lost cause.
