RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabitzer has one more year left on his current contract with the Bundesliga side and as per the latest reports coming out of Germany, multiple Premier League sides are keen to sign him up this summer.
The Daily Mail cited the Bild saying: “Marcel Sabitzer is ready to cause a Premier League scramble this summer with Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham all reportedly in position to make a move for him.
“The RB Leipzig captain has established himself as one of Europe’s accomplished central midfielders in recent seasons.
“With his contract expiring in June 2022 and RB Leipzig reluctant to lose him for nothing, German outlet Bild report that the Premier League trio are jostling for his signature.”
In a recent interview, Marcel Sabitzer had hinted that he is not too worried about the rumours linking him with an exit at the end of this season.
“It has become popular to ask players about their future as soon as they enter the final 18 months of their contract,” he said.
“But that doesn’t mean that everything has to be decided at that moment. Those in my inner circle know what I’m thinking. But I’m not stressed about it. I feel good in Leipzig and at the club, plus we’re successful.”
But, it looks like the midfielder is not keen to extend his stay with the club which is why RB Leipzig have decided to cash in on him during the upcoming transfer window.
As per the reports, the German side want around £36million for the sale of the Austrian international which is a steep asking price for a player who has only one year left on his current deal.
But with clubs like Liverpool, Spurs and Man United seemingly interested in him, getting an inflated prize should not be a big issue for Leipzig.
The report also claims that it’s Jose Mourinho’s Spurs who are currently the favourites to signing him but we expect Liverpool to put their foot on the peddle in the coming few weeks as they look for a replacement to Gini Wijnaldum.
Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could also look to bring in someone like Marcel Sabitzer since Nemanja Matic might be heading out and Fred has been really average this season.
The 27-year-old looks all set to move out of Germany this summer and with just a year left on his deal, Leipzig have no other option but to put him up for sale.
