Marco Asensio Real Madrid

According to Sport, Liverpool are the latest club who have joined the bandwagon to sign Real Madrid’s wantaway star Marco Asensio.

Manchester United and Arsenal are already keen to bring him on board but both these clubs are now going to face some stiff challenges for the winger who has just entered the final 12 months of his contract.

Real Madrid want to hold onto him but as per the sources, the winger is not too happy with the wages in his new contract. He feels he is an integral part of the squad which is why he deserves a lot more than he’s being currently offered.

Real Madrid are a club who do not like to be held for ransom so there’s a chance they could look to offload Marco Asensio this summer.

How much will he cost and is he still an influential player?

As per the rumours, Real Madrid will accept an offer between €50 and €60 million and this price range totally suits all the suitors.

This season, he played in 31 La Liga games and managed to score 10 goals for Madrid. He might not be a regular starter under Carlo Ancelotti but the 26-year-old is oozing with talent and he will surely elevate any club he joins in the future.

Marco Asensio also has a proper European pedigree so for teams like Man United and Arsenal who are looking to get back into the Champions League, he can be a very apt signing.

Will Liverpool leapfrog over Man United and Arsenal?

We still don’t know for how long Liverpool have been monitoring the winger but they have just spent a lot of money on Darwin Nunez so finances might be a concern for them.

Man United and Arsenal will happily spend €50/60 million on a player like Marco Asensio but after signing Nunez, Liverpool will surely have second thoughts.

Another reason why Liverpool might struggle to sign the winger is because Asensio plays on the right-wing, the same position where Mo Salah operates in.

At United or Arsenal, a player like Marco Asensio will be starting each and every week but at Anfield, he will have to fight with the Egyptian international. A player who’s won multiple Champions League will want to join a club where he’s an undisputed first-team regular.

Real Madrid will have several more rounds of talks with Marco Asensio so all the three Premier League sides will be keeping a close watch but since he’s already entered the final 12 months of his contract, we don’t think Florentino Perez will let this one trickle down too late into the transfer window.
