Premier League side Arsenal are interested in signing Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio, according to Corriere dello Sport(h/t Football Talk)
Marco Asensio has been with Real Madrid since 2015 but his current contract expires 12 months later so there’s a massive chance the Los Blancos will cash in on him this summer.
Earlier this month, Asensio had claimed that he wants regular game time and if this condition is not met then there’s a chance of an exit as well.
He had hinted: “Renew or leave? By the way, there is also the option of staying for the remaining year of my contract.
“I’ll speak with Real soon – I’m now looking for regularity for the next few years. It’s important”.

Will Marco Asensio be a good signing for Arsenal?
The Gunners have a host of attacking talents in their current squad but none of them have a proper European appetite.
The lack of experience, especially in crunch situations, is a major reason why Arsenal missed out on a top-four finish but someone like Marco Asensio can help solve that problem.
The winger is a multiple-time Champions League winner and he’s played 235 games for the Los Blanco across all competitions. Another major reason why Arteta is probably trying to bring him on board is that he can play in multiple positions.
Primarily he is a right-winger but the 26-year-old can also play on the left-hand side and also as a No 10. A player like him can easily elevate Arsenal to the next level.
Why Arsenal might find it difficult to land Marco Asensio?
First and the biggest problem for Arsenal is his high wages because his current salary is £6m and the Gunners are reluctant to pay that.
The Gunners have been moving away from signing players who demand high wages but by going after Marco Asensio, they are once again heading back to that same alley.
Another obstacle for Arsenal is that while they are still thinking if they want to make pay such massive salaries or not, there are a host of other Premier League clubs who are not only interested in signing Marco Asensio but they are also ready to better his current salary.
Arsenal will hugely benefit from a player of his stature but they will need to sort out their moralities before they can make a formal offer for Marco Asensio. And then will come the hardest part of beating all the other suitors.
