Man United receive a huge injury boost before they face Sheffield & Arsenal in the PL

Man United forward Marcus Rashford could be fit in time to face Sheffield United in the Premier League on Wednesday, according to The Telegraph.

Rashford was one of the star performers for Man United in their 3-2 FA Cup win vs Liverpool on Sunday but he had to be taken off the pitch during the last few minutes of the match. And after the game, Solskjaer revealed that the 23-year-old had picked up a knee injury.

Ole told the press: “Marcus has played up front, down the right and left.

“We felt if we could switch the ball early today we could attack them because Liverpool defend on the front foot so we have to be quick on the ball. We did that well.

“Marcus felt his knee. We’ll have to do a scan. Hopefully it’s not too bad but I’m not a doctor, so we’ll have to see tomorrow.”

The injury was a real cause of concern for the Man United boss since they take on Sheffield United in the EPL in midweek and then on Saturday they head to London for a league clash vs Arsenal.

The absence of Marcus Rashford would have been a major headache but thankfully, the knee injury does not look too serious and he should be back to full fitness in no time.

Metro cite The Telegraph saying: “The 23-year-old was seen holding the back of his knee as he made his way back to the dressing room but the Telegraph report that scan results have shown Rashford has suffered some minor bruising only.

“The fact that Rashford has avoided any significant muscle damage puts him into contention to face the Blades, who travel to Old Trafford on Wednesday night.”

Ole might choose to rest Marcus Rashford vs the Blades in midweek since the likes of Mason Greenwood or Juan Mata are more than capable of doing the job against a struggling Chris Wilder side.

But if the Telegraph’s report is right then Marcus Rashford will be a guaranteed starter for Man United against Arsenal in the EPL on Saturday.

During the 2020-21 season, the 23-year-old has played in every EPL game for Man United and out of the 19 matches, he’s started in almost all of them. And now with this minor knee injury, Rashford will get the opportunity to get a whole week’s rest before the key game against the Gunners.

UPDATE:

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in his press-conference has revealed that the injury sustained by Marcus Rashford was indeed a minor one and the forward is back in training.

“Marcus is available, yeah,” said the boss, as quoted by the club’s official website. “He trained this morning. I think he tweaked his knee a little bit but should be fine.”

“We are looking strong, which is a good place to be in.”
