With each passing day, it’s looking extremely difficult for Barcelona to sign Nico Williams and as per journalist Albert Fernandez, Hansi Flick is interested in signing Marcus Rashford as an alternative to the Spanish international.

Nico Williams has been priority number one for Barcelona but Athletic Bilbao are not interested in letting the winger leave this summer which is why Barcelona are now exploring their other options.

In the last couple of days, Catalans have been linked with left-wingers like Kingsley Coman and Luis Diaz however if the reports are true then Hansi Flick feels Marcus Rashford can turn out to be the ideal signing. Sporting director Deco is also keen to sign a new left-winger before deadline day however, going for someone like the Manchester United forward will need a lot of courage and planning.

Do Barca have any chance of landing Marcus Rashford?

Marcus Rashford is one of the stars for Manchester United but to be honest, the forward is yet to peak. He has already played more than 400 games for the club over ten seasons but the 26-year-old has had only one season where he’s scored 30 goals across all competitions.

Last season he played 33 games for United but scored only 7 goals from 21 shots on target. He has struggled to come up with consistent performances but maybe in the La Liga, Rashford will find things a lot easier.

If Barcelona cannot sign Nico Williams then Marcus Rashford won’t be a bad alternative however, there’s no way the Catalans will be able to land him this month.

The first reason why Barcelona won’t be able to sign Rashford is because his current valuation is €60 million and his contract runs until 2028 which means Barca will have to shell out at least €80 million to even come close to agreeing on a move.

With the financial mess they are in right now, there’s no way Joan Laporta will be able to cough up €80-90 million for one single player.

The second reason is that Manchester United have shown no signs that they are willing to sell Marcus Rashford right now because, despite his poor form last season, Erik ten Hag is still backing the England international to shine.

Garnacho is challenging Rashford for the left-wing position but these are the only two players for that position and given the number of injuries that Man United had last season, Ten Hag will not risk selling such an important player.

We feel this is the final season for Marcus Rashford to prove himself in a Manchester United shirt because if he repeats his failures from the previous campaign then undoubtedly the club will look to cash in on him by the end of May 2025.
