Ruben Amorim clearly does not want to use Marcus Rashford in his long-term plans, and according to SPORT, a move to Barcelona is now being pushed for by the forward.
Just a few weeks ago, there was excitement between Rashford and Amorim about working together, but the new manager quickly realized that the England international does not fit into his system. As a result, Rashford has been left out of the squad, and the club is making strong efforts to offload him during the January transfer window.
Selling Rashford would bring pure profits for the club, which is why the new owners are desperate to cash in on him. While Milan is eager to bring him in, Rashford seems to be holding out for a dream move to Barcelona.
Will Marcus Rashford play for FC Barcelona?
A move to Milan won’t be simple due to his wage demands, but for now, Rashford has put those talks on hold. He wants to see what Barcelona offers before making a decision to leave his boyhood club.
Barcelona is also interested in the 27-year-old, with Hansi Flick believing that Rashford could fit into his system. However, the club would face significant difficulties in meeting Manchester United’s asking price.
United is reportedly asking for around £50 million for their homegrown talent, and it is uncertain if Barcelona can gather that amount in the middle of the season. Barcelona’s finances remain in turmoil, as they have only recently registered Dani Olmo and are focused on renewing contracts for Gavi and Pedri. Moreover, with Raphinha and Lamine Yamal performing well, Hansi Flick may not need someone like Marcus Rashford for the next few months.
Along with Barcelona and Milan, other major clubs such as Dortmund and Juventus are being linked with the English forward. However, it is doubtful that either of these clubs could come up with £50-55 million during the current transfer window.
Fortunately for Manchester United, there is no rush to offload Rashford, as his contract runs until 2028. United can easily keep him until the end of this season and then sell him without much trouble. If Barcelona is able to make this move happen in the summer, Rashford would likely be willing to wait out the next couple of months.
