Martin Odegaard to EPL side Arsenal

Martin Odegaard is currently on loan at Arsenal and a recent report in Football London had claimed that the playmaker is keen to stay at the Emirates beyond the summer as well.

The report claimed: “Odegaard’s situation with Real Madrid is currently uncertain, though, and it is not yet clear if his loan move from to Arsenal will be made permanent.

“football.london understands that the 22-year-old has told those close to him that he would like to stay with the Gunners as he has been impressed by Mikel Arteta’s project and feels highly valued as part of the squad at the Emirates.

“However, with European qualification looking unlikely, it is unclear if Arsenal will be able to afford him or if Los Blancos are willing to sell.”

Obviously, if Arsenal cannot secure a spot in Europe then there’s no way their owners will be ready to pay the asking price for Martin Odegaard. But all that could change courtesy of Zinedine Zidane.

Rumours have it that the Real Madrid boss was not happy with the idea of letting the midfielder leave on loan during the middle of the season and there’s a big chance he’s going to call him back.

But suddenly there have been whispers that Zidane could part ways with Real Madrid at the end of this season and if that happens then the Gunners could once again be on the driver’s seat.

Martin Odegaard has failed to impress at Real Madrid since his move to the club in 2015 and if Zinedine Zidane is not around then Florentino Perez will not think twice before cashing in on him.

Mikel Arteta will need to secure a Europa League spot if he wants the transfer money from his hierarchy.

Some experts believe the Premier League side could try and move for another loan deal, this time with a mandatory buying clause at the end of the 2021-22 season.

Since his move to England, Martin Odegaard has played in 12 Premier League games for Arsenal, starting in six of them.
