Mason Mount is about to enter the final 12 months of his contract but Chelsea are desperate to make him sign a new deal, as per reports.
Liverpool, Manchester United and even Manchester City are keeping close tabs on Mount’s contract situation at Chelsea but the Blues are reluctant to send him out to a direct rival.
Mason Mount signed his current deal in 2019 and for the first few seasons, he was considered the future star at Stamford Bridge however, in this campaign, he’s seen a massive dip in form. In the 2022/23 season, the midfielder has featured in 23 Premier League games but he’s managed to score only three and assist two goals.
If the rumours are the be believed then the 24-year-old wants a new challenge and if he decides to leave then the England international will have no shortage of takers.
Manchester United and Manchester City will definitely launch a formal move if they feel that Mason Mount is ready to move out of London but there’s a feeling that he wants Liverpool to become his next destination.
Jurgen Klopp is planning a midfield revamp in the summer so he will welcome someone like Mount with open arms but Chelsea are trying all they can to stop this from happening.
Manchester City will likely see Bernardo Silva’s exit while Ten Hag would love a long-term replacement for Christian Eriksen so Mount can become an asset in either of the two Manchester clubs as well.
The Blues have already held multiple rounds of talks with the player’s representatives and according to the latest update, the club are preparing to hold further talks in the coming weeks.
We think Mason Mount will have a series of discussions with Graham Potter to understand if he is still valued or not and if Potter cannot guarantee him regular game time then the midfielder will most likely reject a new contract from the club.
Mount’s current market valuation is €65 million but once he enters the final 12 months of his deal, Chelsea will have to let him leave for a massively discounted transfer fee.
