Chelsea’s summer signing Matteo Kovacic has a thing or two to say about Liverpool’s title challenge.

Kovacic joined the Blues during the summer on a season-long loan deal and after spending a couple of years on the sidelines at Real Madrid the Croatian is finally finding his feet at Stamford Bridge.

While he is yet to become a regular under Maurizio Sarri but that fact that he has played in nine Premier League game shows that the Blues manager intends to use him extensively.

But he recently made a comment about Liverpool and his Croatian teammate Dejan Lovren which has not gone down too well with the Anfield faithful.

When asked about Liverpool’s possibility of winning the Premier League this season, Matteo Kovacic said:

“Liverpool will not be England champion. Why? Well because they have Dejan Lovren,”

Matteo Kovacic obviously was joking and chose to aim a friendly dig at his international teammate but the comment has not gone down too well with the Liverpool fans.

Many fans have chosen to make sarcastic comments directed at Matteo Kovacic on social media while some have chosen to blatantly ignore the joke and hurl abuses at the Chelsea midfielder.

Dejan Lovren has been an influential figure for Liverpool ever since he joined the club from Southampton. But this season Jurgen Klopp seems to have lost all faith in the 29-year-old centre-back and has preferred to use the pair of Joe Gomez and Virgil Van Dijk in defence.
