According to Fichajes.net, Premier League sides Arsenal and West Ham United are looking to sign Barcelona’s Memphis Depay.

Depay moved to Barcelona as a free agent last summer and this transfer has worked out pretty decently for him. In his 27 league appearances this season, the forward has scored 12 and assisted two goals.

But if the report is to be believed then Xavi doesn’t rate him too admiringly which is why the club are ready to cash in on him if the right offer comes by. And as soon as this news hit the market, two of England’s biggest clubs have been linked with him.

Will Memphis Depay be willing to come back to England?

Memphis Depay has very sour memories of the Premier League from his Manchester United days but he had managed to revive his career at Lyon.

He was on United’s books for two seasons and he had managed to score only seven goals in 53 appearances for the club. At Lyon, he completely turned things around, scoring 76 goals across 178 appearances.

He’s shown no signs of discontentment at Barcelona this campaign and even the club are happy to offer him a new deal but if a suitor offers the right fee then they won’t hesitate to sell him in the coming months.

Memphis Depay might want to stay and become a club legend at Camp Nou but if his club don’t want him then he will have to pack his bags and leave in the summer.

Will Memphis Depay be a gamble signing for West Ham or Arsenal?

Truth be told, we don’t see Memphis Depay joining West Ham United in the near future. Even if the Hammers can qualify for the Europa League next, the 28-year-old won’t be eager to join them.

Arsenal, on the other hand, will make a good case for themselves if they can secure the fourth spot on the Premier League table.

The Netherlands international can play in a variety of positions in and around the final third so having him can solve several of Arteta’s problems next season. Obviously, he will be a massive gamble signing because he’s already failed once in the Premier League but we think Arsenal are in that phase right now where they can afford to take this risk.

Mikel Arteta has managed to plug several holes in his first-team squad and if someone like Memphis Depay can turn out to be a good centre-forward then the Gunners will be a proper force to be reckoned with next season.
