Premier League side Manchester United are looking to add a new centre-back to their squad this summer and as per Sports Mole, one of the players they are interested in is Merih Demiral.

Matt Law cited Gazzetta: “Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for Juventus centre-back Merih Demiral.

“The Red Devils continue to be linked with Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane, but the club are thought to be considering bringing two new central defenders to Old Trafford this summer.

“According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Man United are showing an interest in Demiral and could offer €45m (£38m) for his services.”

Should Man United spend on Varane as well as Merih Demiral?

Manchester United have been linked with Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane for the longest time but now it looks like Solskjaer is keen to add not one but two central defenders to his squad this summer.

Both Eric Bailly and Lindelof have failed to consistently perform so trying to sign someone like Merih Demiral makes solid sense.

The 23-year-old joined Juventus in 2019 and last season, he started in only 10 Serie A matches for the Old Lady.

Ideally, Man United have the financial power to sign Varane and then also go on to spend £35-odd million on Merih Demiral.

But, with Everton also interested in signing the defender, we doubt if Man United are standing in the front of the queue.

At Goodison, Demiral will have the chance to be a regular feature in the starting XI next season but at United, he will be a bench warmer.

Obviously, Raphael Varane is the only priority for the Old Trafford outfit right now and once this deal is done only then will they think about going after Merih Demiral.
