Mesut Ozil has not featured for Arsenal since the 2019-20 season resumed a couple of months ago and right now, he’s sticking out like a sore thumb.
The player has made it clear that he has no intentions of leaving the club this summer as he wants to honour his current contract and now Lukas Podolski has come out in support of Mesut Ozil claiming that the current scenario is hurting everyone.
He told the Athletic, as reported: “He’s good enough (to be their main man) with support from the coach and the team, but something has happened with the club, you can feel that.
“Is he in a disagreement with the club? When I talk to him, we don’t want to talk to him about that kind of stuff.
“It’s his situation, him and his agent have to deal with that.
“He’s a good character — he’s not an a******. He doesn’t do interviews where he speaks badly of his team-mates or of Arsenal and it’s a shame we have this situation because everyone is losing.
“Ozil is sat in the stands, Arsenal are paying him and there is no winner.”
Arsenal are trying desperately to offload the playmaker before the new season begins but right now no major European club are interested in signing him up.
If Mikel Arteta can sell Mesut Ozil, he’ll be able to free up a lot of money but with the way things are going, we do not think Arsenal will be able to find a suitable buyer during the ongoing transfer window.
It’s clear that Ozil will not play for Arsenal anytime soon but it will surely be interesting to see what Arteta does if the German remains unsold.
