West Ham United have missed out on the signing of James Tarkowski so according to Football Insider, the Hammers have now shifted their focus to Everton’s Michael Keane.

Keane is a product of the Manchester United academy but he’s been a mainstay for the Toffees since joining them back in 2017. The centre-back has played close to 200 games for Everton but now that Lampard’s signed Tarkowski from Burnley, the manager might agree to part ways with the 29-year-old.

The Everton boss will need funds for his new arrivals and since Tarkowski has arrived on a free transfer, this is the perfect opportunity for the Toffees to cash in on Michael Keane and bring him some necessary funds.

West Ham United are hoping that they will be successful in getting their hands on the centre-back because he’s become dispensible after James Tarkowski’s arrival plus even Keane will be more than willing to move up the ladder.

Will Michael Keane be a sensible signing for the Hammers?

Everton had a really poor season and the defender, like everyone else, was very average as well but one poor campaign does not make Keane a bad playing so he will be a fine addition to the West Ham squad.

Issa Diop is expected to leave this summer meaning Keane will get a lot of chances to play. Also, West Ham will be playing in the Europa Conference League next season so Michael Keane will also get a taste of European football.

Angelo Ogbonna, Kurt Zouma and Craig Dawson are the three main central defenders at the club right now but we believe David Moyes is viewing Keane as the long-term partner for Zouma.

Dawson and Ogbonna are near the end of their playing careers so a 29-year-old centre-back will be the ideal addition to the first-team squad.

Everton narrowly escaped relegation in the previous season and since Frank Lampard will now undertake a major rebuilding process there is a chance that the Toffees might finish in the bottom half of the table once again. In such a scenario, joining a European team like West Ham United will be a dream for Michael Keane.
