Chelsea have appointed Frank Lampard as their new manager which means a number of players are going to get a second chance at the club.

Players like Michy Batshuayi, Tammy Abraham, Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater were almost on the verge of fading into oblivion last season but they could very well return back into the fold given they can impress during the pre-season tour.

The Blues beat St Patrick’s Athletic 4-0 earlier this weekend and Frank Lampard has gone on to praise both Michy Batshuayi and Tammy Abraham after the match – indicating to the fact that both of them could play a key role next campaign.

‘The negative is that we should’ve scored more goals,’ Lampard told Chelsea TV after the match(as reported by the Metro).

‘I thought some of our build-up play and combinations from midfield and around their box was fantastic, really enjoyable to watch, so there are positives.

‘These games are important to win for the feeling but important for the lads to get every little bit out of it in terms of physically and how hard they work.

‘We saw better passages of play and better quality but our fitness is still something we need to strive for.

‘I thought Tammy, his energy up front, alongside Michy, was really good between the pair of them.

‘They showed exactly the sort of stuff I want, energy off the ball as well as on the ball, and quality.’

Michy Batshuayi spent the first of the season out on loan to Valencia and then spent the second half with Crystal Palace. Tammy Abraham too was loaned out to Aston Villa last season.

But now that the likes of Eden Hazard, Alvaro Morata and Gonzalo Higuain have moved out of Chelsea, experts are hoping that both Michy Batshuayi and Abraham get to see more game time next season.
