Mikel Arteta has had a terrible start to the 2021/22 campaign as Arsenal went down 2-0 to newly-promoted Brentford in matchweek one of the Premier League.
And if the latest buzz is true then the Gunners management might already be lining up a replacement for their current boss in the form of ex-Chelsea man Antonio Conte.
Sport Witness cites Tuttosport: “Tuttosport have gone off on an Arsenal tangent in their Sunday edition, with an outlandish suggestion of a double deal for a manager and a striker.
“According to the Italian newspaper, Mikel Arteta’s situation is far from being secure, and therefore the manager could be shown the door at the Gunners. They then bring forward a possible swoop for Antonio Conte, who is out of work having walked out on Inter Milan earlier this year.”
Will Antonio Conte be the new Arsenal boss?
Antonio Conte is a top draw manager and the Arsenal fans would love to see him take charge of their side. But we don’t see this deal happening anytime soon.
Conte left Inter Milan this summer primarily because he thought the club wouldn’t be able to challenge for trophies in the near future. And it’s a similar(if not worse) scenario at Arsenal right now.

Arsenal firstly do not have European football this campaign and the way they have started this season, it will take a miracle for them to climb back into the top-four.
So the last thing a manager like Antonio Conte will want is to come in and sort out such a big mess for the next couple of seasons.
Also in Mikel Arteta, the Arsenal management have a yes man so they will not want to get rid of him so easily.
Arsenal take on Chelsea and Manchester City in their next two Premier League matches and if the Gunners can even win one of these then Arteta will be able to hold onto his spot for a few more months.
