Mo Salah is soon to be a free agent at the end of this season and as per rumours, Barcelona are one of the suitors who are tempted to sign the 32-year-old winger.

The Egyptian international has been with Liverpool since 2017, making 366 appearances and scoring 221 goals across all competitions. He has won every major trophy with Liverpool and this campaign, he has already made 14 goal contributions with an xG of 7.67 in just 11 Premier League matches.

Despite being 32 years old, he still has a lot to offer but it is becoming increasingly likely that Mo Salah will leave Anfield next summer.

Barcelona aren’t the only major club who are interested in the winger because Saudi clubs Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal are also in this transfer race. Salah was wanted in the SPL last summer as well but Liverpool rejected a move. According to journalist Ekrem KONUR, Al-Hilal now want Mo Salah as a direct replacement for Neymar.

Is Mo Salah going to be a Barcelona player next year?

Mo Salah has been one of the best wingers in the Premier League in recent years and a team like Barcelona would love to have in on board. However, it is highly unlikely that the Egyptian international is going to Camp Nou any time soon.

The first major reason is that the Saudi Pro League clubs are reportedly willing to offer Mo Salah around €40-50 million per year, a figure that Barca will never be able to match.

Also, the SPL teams are ready to pay Liverpool a fee despite the fact that Mo Salah will be a free agent next summer.

The second and perhaps the most important reason that Salah will not join the Blaugranas is because the Liverpool attacker operates on the right wing and Barcelona currently have Lamine Yamal playing in that position. The 17-year-old is already a superstar and this season he has 12 goal contributions in 12 LaLiga appearances.

There is no way Hansi Flick is going to add competition out on the right wing by signing a 32-year-old thereby creating doubt in Yamal’s mind. Mo Salah is not versatile enough to play in any other position so either the right wing or the bench.

If he does not agree to a new two or maybe three-year deal with Liverpool, a transfer to one of the Saudi clubs looks much more realistic at this point.
