Mohun Bagan will look to continue their good run in the current season of the Hero I-League as they travel to South India to face Chennai City in their fourth match.
Four in Four:
This is the first time that Bagan will be on the road during the current season as all their previous matches were at home. But Sanjay Sen’s boys have been in tremendous form as they are yet to concede a single goal in this edition of the league. And their performance has gotten another important boost after the arrival of their Haitian star, Sony Norde.
Sony Impact:
Norde played the last match against Minerva and the difference in the level of performance was clearly visible. Mohun Bagan blew away their previous opponents Minerva Punjab and won the match four goals to nil.
Goals Galore:
Another boost to their confidence will be the fact that all the Bagan forwards are amongst the goals. Darryl Duffy is currently the league’s top scorer with 4 goals and Jeje Lakpekhlua is fifth on the list with 2 goals. Their third striker Balwant Singh has also scored a goal in this season, after spending most of the previous year in the treatment room.
Good news for Chennai City:
Chennai City FC has gathered just one point from their first 3 encounters. And they will be hoping to at least snatch a single point from Mohun Bagan. Chennai City this week got some good news from the Sports Ministry of Tamil Nadu and the league debutants will be able to rent the Jawarharlal Nehru Stadium at cheaper rates. This comes as a huge boost for the new team as the team management can now concentrate on building their team rather than worry about the home ground.
More important that it looks:
Mohun Bagan will be eager to gather all three points from this match as Bengaluru FC play East Bengal tomorrow at Kolkata. And if someone both the teams can split points in that match that match then it will be a golden opportunity for Bagan to go to the top of the league. And given the fact that this is such a short league, they can easily go on and win the tournament.
