Newcastle United have made a pretty mixed bag start to the 2019-20 season and Steve Bruce will obviously be looking to bring in reinforcements during the January transfer window.

Strengthening the midfield area is one of the big concerns of the manager right now and as per reports, NUFC might opt to make a move for Granit Xhaka.

Xhaka has been out of favour at Arsenal ever since his problem with the fans and while the player has insisted he wants to play again for them, we doubt if that will ever happen.

Multiple reports have claimed the Swiss international is adamant on moving out of the club and even Arsenal want to offload as soon as possible.

While many rumours claim AC Milan are firm favourites to sign the midfielder but Steve Bruce is convinced that he can lure Granit Xhaka into Newcastle United.

The player will obviously love to stay in the Premier League but as per the report, NUFC only want to sign him on a short-term loan deal right now. And this is where the basic problem lies for Steve Bruce.

Arsenal are desperate to sell him off permanently even if that means they have to suffer a loss in the transaction. And hence we don’t know if the Gunners will be too eager to sanction a loan deal for Granit Xhaka.

Also, Milan want to sign him on a permanent transfer which is what the midfielder would also want meaning this could be down to the conversation between Steve Bruce and the player.

If the Newcastle United boss can convince Xhaka that he will get to play an integral part in the first XI then he could very well reject Milan and choose to stay in England.

But for that to happen, Bruce will have to promise Granit Xhaka a guaranteed first XI role for the remainder of the season.

UPDATE(Monday):

It looks like Steve Bruce has moved one step closer to signing Granit Xhaka during the January transfer window.

Bruce pitched the idea of signing the Arsenal misfit on a short-term deal and it’s being reported that  Newcastle United director Lee Charnley has given the green signal to make the move.

With the Magpies hierarchy accepting the decision, the club will surely make a move for Granit Xhaka at the start of the new year but it remains to be seen whether the Swiss international will be eager to join a new side on a loan spell.
