Chelsea vs Newcastle United should have been an easy win for the Blues all year round but this time things could pan out a bit differently.

The Magpies have made a pretty horrible start to the 2019-20 season having picked up just 8 points out of their first 8 Premier League matches.

But everything changed two weeks ago when Steve Bruce’s men managed to beat Manchester United 1-0 at home. And it is with this confidence that Newcastle United will be travelling to Stamford Bridge this weekend.

The odds are still very much stacked against the away side but with some much-needed wind under their sails, it shouldn’t come as a surprise if the Toons manage to get something out of this match.

Newcastle United news vs Chelsea:

While Chelsea have a number of injuries to deal with but Newcastle United, on the other hand, have very few injury concerns which is why Steve Bruce would want to name the same first XI which picked up the three points vs Man United.

Isaac Hayden remains suspended after picking up a red card while Florian Lejeune is also ruled out with a knee injury.

Fabian Schar, Ciaran Clark and Jamaal Lascelles started in a three-man central defence during the win vs Man United and the trio will once again reprise the same role this upcoming weekend for the Chelsea vs Newcastle United clash.

Matty Longstaff was given a debut vs the Red Devils and he ended up scoring the winning goal and we believe the youngster would be rewarded with another start in midfield alongside Sean Longstaff.

Almiron and Saint-Maximin should play out wide while Joelinton will play as the lone man up front.

Steve Bruce opted for a five-man defence when he was playing at home vs Man United so it is very obvious that he would keep the same shape when his side takes on Chelsea away from home.

This ultra-defensive approach also means that the Blues will have to work hard to break down Newcastle United and Bruce’s men will be relying on counter-attacks to get something out of the match.
